Day 1: ARRIVE KUCHING

Sarawak River Cruises

 

The very best way to see and enjoy historic Kuching is from the Sarawak River, the main artery around which the city has grown. Our Sarawak River Cruises give you a view of the city and its surroundings that is impossible to experience from dry land. From the comfort of our purpose-built pontoon boats you will enjoy unobstructed views of every aspect of traditional life on the river.

Enjoy a Sunset Cruise for 2 Hours. This cruise, running from late afternoon to twilight, follows a similar itinerary to the morning cruise, with the added pleasure of the setting sun as a backdrop (weather permitting). The cruise ends with colourful lights coming on all along the Kuching Waterfront as you approach the jetty.

Day 2: KUCHING

After breakfast, proceed with Kuching Heritage Trail.

 

This walkabout tour commences at the Kuching waterfront, with a visit to the “Tua Pek Kong” Chinese temple and Chinese Historical Museum where the historical Fort Margherita can be viewed on the other side of the Sarawak River. From the temple you will walk through Carpenter Street, consisiting of old shop houses on both sides of the narrow street passage. At the end of the street junction you pass by the General Post Office. Also situated around this area are historical buildings and monuments built during the era of the Brooke dynasty which consists of the Round Tower, the Pavilion, the Brooke Memorial Mounment, the Square Tower and the Old Court House. Proceed to India  Street, a pedestrians’ shopping mall specialising in local and imported textiles. From India Street, walk through a narrow covered passageway where you will find a Masjid India on your left with very low walls built sometime in the mid 19th century. Just as you reach the end of the passageway, your senses will detect the slight aroma of Indian spices which navigates you to Gambier Street. Prodeed to Brooke Dockyard and Dockyard lane passing by the Old Fire Brigade Station (known now as the open air market). Our last stop is a direct walk past the Merdeka Square to the St Thomas’s Cathedral for a short visit. The tour would then conclude at the Sarawak Museum which you could take your time in browsing around and return to the hotel on your own.

Day 3: KUCHING – LEMANAK LONGHOUSE

Breakfast at the hotel.

 

2 Days / 1 Night Lemanak River Safari.

 

The journey by road of 225 kms long takes you past lush, scenic countryside doted with small roadside towns, farmhouses, Malay, Chinese and Bidayuh villages, pepper orchards, rubber and oil palm plantations interspersed with creeper-covered trees of the secondary jungle and tall gigantic trees of primary rainforest. Stopover at Serian for a short tour of the town. Continue your journey to Lachau or another roadside town for lunch until you reach the Lemanak River where you will board a motorised longboat for a thrilling ride - travelling upstream against the flow of the water.

Arrive at Ngemah or Nanga Kesit longhouse and experience for yourself a way of life that goes back many centuries. Take a dip or swim in the cool water of the Lemanak River. Dinner at a guesthouse equipped with basic amenities. In the evening, entertainment by the longhouse residents will consist of traditional dances to the music of the gongs and drinking tuak (rice wine).

Stay a night in the guesthouse, built specially by the residents for guests' accommodation, in the heartland of Borneo rainforest, one of the oldest in the world.

Overnight in the guest house with basic amenities (No Air-conditioning and no private room for individuals) as the accommodation is built by the Longhouse people to help supplement their income for their livelihood and children's education.

Day 4: LEMANAK - KUCHING

After breakfast, enjoy a blowpipe demonstration and try shooting one yourself. Then take a short walk through the forest accompanied by Iban trackers, and learn about the traditional uses of rainforest plants in Iban culture.

Depart for Kuching via the same route. Lunch is served en-route.

Day 5: KUCHING – KOTA KINABALU

Breakfast at the hotel.

 

Departure transfer to Kuching Airport for your flight to Kota Kinabalu.

Arrive in Kota Kinabalu.

 

Meet and greet and transfer to the hotel for check in.

Day 6: KOTA KINABALU (FULLDAY KINABALU PARK)

After breakfast, pick up from the hotel to Kinabalu Park.

 

The jagged granite peaks of Mt. Kinabalu (4095m) towers above one of the most Biologically diverse areas in the world. Nominated by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, Kinabalu Park is a natural wonder that offers day visitors a glimpse into the fascinating and often unique world of flora within the park. The montane oak-chestnut forest at park headquarters gives way to lowland dipterocarp forest at Poring on the eastern boundary. Trek through the rainforest and witness life in the treetops as you walk along the 100ft high Canopy Walkway (If the Canopy walkway is closed, it will be replaced with a visit to the Tropical Garden).

Lunch will be served at a local restaurant.

 

Late afternoon return to the city.

Day 7: KOTA KINABALU - KUDAT

Breakfast at the hotel.

 

2 Days / 1 Night Rungus Longhouse & Tip of Borneo

 

LOCAL MARKETS and RUNGUS LONGHOUSE A cultural experience!  Visit a Local Market before proceeding to Kudat district to meet the Rungus people in their longhouses. Famous for their bead and basketry, witness their handicraft making.

Overnight at Bavangaazo Longhouse (a replica of the original Longhouse built of natural materials and managed by the local villagers). Accommodation is basic twin sharing, communal bathrooms (no hot water), and mattress with mosquito netting.

NOTE: Longhouse is closed on 24 and 25 December 2017

Day 8: KUDAT - KOTA KINABALU

After breakfast, visit Kg. Sumangkap to observe how local gongs are being made. Gongs are important heirlooms and commonly used in festivities.

Late afternoon return to the city.

Children between 3 and 11 years old are granted a 20% discount on transfers, excursions, and package tours provided when they share room with two adults.

A maximum of two children per party are granted such discounts. Children require their own rooms are charged as adults. Child 2 years and below is considered as an infant and will be free of charge.
